More than half of Australians over the age of 55 are open to downsizing, according to the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute’s report earlier this year.

To help capture this growing market, residential apartment developers can now combine quality design and location with a new concierge service that provides safety, security and choice to residents.

Zinnia Concierge is the first of its kind for the property sector, delivering concierge and coordinated health and care solutions to residents living in apartment developments by partnering with residential property developers.

Services include traditional concierge activities that are convenient and save residents time; care concierge such as coordinating allied health services; and on-site advocacy and advisory services that help residents benefit from collective buying power for services like cleaning.

Director Jen Berryman said the service appeals to residents of all ages, but is particularly suited to downsizers wanting to buy and live in a home that enables them to live longer, healthier and happier lives.

“Downsizers want more than just bricks and mortar, they’re looking for a home that can adapt as their needs change and support them to stay in their home as they age,” Berryman said.

"While many downsizers are active and healthy right now – they want peace of mind and certainty that if their circumstances change in the future, they can access on-site support to connect them to the services they need without having to move.”

Residents living in developments with Zinnia Concierge have access to a comprehensive selection of services including coordinating a dog-walker, booking a personal training session or helping them secure access to government-funded health and care services.

“Unlike traditional concierge services, Zinnia Concierge specialists don’t sit at the front door behind a desk,” Zinnia director Stacey Baker said.

They combine technology along with face-to-face engagement with residents and their families where and when it suits them, from the local coffee shop to the privacy and comfort of their apartment.”

“In the current environment of increased uncertainty, we work with developers to deliver confidence and help build excitement to downsizer buyers who want safety, security and convenience.”

Zinnia partners with developers to design and deliver a tailored concierge solution which meets downsizer needs and is matched to the budget and preferences of the buyers for each development.
